quote sandwich

In the article New York is lagging as Seas and Risks rise critics warn, Mireya Navarro states that the mayor and everyone else with power doesn't seem to care and city officials  "lack a sense of urgency about this,"(Navarro) referring to global warming and hurricane sandy, i don't agree with this because city officials and the mayor are doing many things to help global warming such as planting millions of trees and planning to help buildings by reinforcing them so damage due to water isn't as severe as it was during the hurricane. I strongly believe that they're doing everything they can to help the situation. but i also think that they need to do more than just that, many low-income areas are very behind in preparing for this and they need to do their best to try and help them. Most of the areas that are getting the help can already help themselves as they already have the money to help themselves.

Today in English class i showed my work to fellow classmates and i received feedback on my letter to mayor  Bill de Blasio, i would like to thank them as it will help me write a better paper next time. They told me that  i have a lot of run on sentences and i should work on my quotations, and i should give more reasoning as to why i agree/disagree if New York is ready/not ready for global warming. To improve my essay even more, i would like my professor to help me with my introduction, as that's where i have the most trouble in essays.

The Climate Casino

In the Climate Casino William Nordhaus says that there are three simple steps to take when approaching this global warming issue. First people need to understand the severity of this issue so they need to educate themselves about it so we can have a future in this world. We shouldn't wait until it’s too late to solve this problem. Second, we need to increase prices of gas and other CO2/Greenhouse-gasses even though it will result in backlash from the people. Third we need to start transitioning to low-carbon technologies such as solar panels to achieve our climate goals.

I agree when Nordhaus says we need to help people understand this issue and realize this is real, as not many people know about it and believe it’s just a theory, but in reality it’s actually happening to the world and we need to do something about it soon before it’s too late.

One thing Nordhaus neglects to mention is not many people know about the global warming issue at all, we can keep saying that we need to do something, but if we don’t educate the youth about this, we will leave a terrible world for our future children.
